NBA superstar hammered by boos with no compassion in return to the team he abandoned.
Celtics supporters continue to express dissatisfaction with Kyrie Irving.
Prior to Thursday’s NBA Finals Game 1 at TD Garden, Boston Celtics supporters booed Dallas Mavericks great (and former one) Kyrie Irving mercilessly. (RELATED: Charles Barkley is about to become the biggest free agent in all of sports.)
After two seasons with the Celtics, Irving signed with the Brooklyn Nets, and to make matters worse, he got into some trouble with fans during the 2022 playoffs. When Kyrie returned to Boston for a first-round Game 1, he had many interactions with the C’s fans, the most noteworthy of which was when he gave them the middle finger, for which the NBA fined him $50,000.
Celtics supporters haven’t forgotten about all of it, and they made it clear during team introductions before the game began.
For Kyrie’s sake, I hope he and Luka Dončić can make this series competitive and exciting. Not only did Boston demolish the former with boos, but they also decimated him (and the latter) in the game to earn a 1-0 series lead. I simply want to point out that the Celtics maintained their domination despite Jayson Tatum’s six turnovers.
You must be feeling terrible as a Mavericks fan this morning, and if you’re Kyrie, how do you feel at this point?
