Transfer update: Middlesbrough leads Blackpool, West Ham, Southampton, Everton, and Leeds United in the transfer target of excellent star.
One Championship club has pulled out of the nine-team transfer competition in order to capture a former Celtic prodigy.
According to reports, Portsmouth are unlikely to recruit former Blackpool sensation Karamoko Dembele.
According to the News, the high level of interest makes it doubtful that Portsmouth will land the forward. Earlier this week, it was claimed that Sheffield Wednesday had approached Dembele’s club Brest about signing him. It is unclear what the French team intends to do with Dembele after finishing third in Ligue One and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League league phase.
Pompey are one of several clubs interested in Dembele, and they are not optimistic about their prospects against the other teams vying for his signature. Following a stellar season at Bloomfield Road, teams throughout the Premier League and Championship are vying for his services.
The 21-year-old had 14 assists and nine goals for the Seasiders, taking home the majority of the individual prizes during Blackpool’s end-of-season celebration. His tenure with Blackpool was the longest he has played for any team, and he will have benefited much from regular games.
