Josh Murphy has been linked with a transfer to the Hawthorns in the coming weeks and months, following his playoff heroics for Oxford United, which helped them clinch promotion from League One by scoring both goals in the final against Bolton Wanderers.

West Brom may also try to sell players this summer in order to create transfer cash, with John Swift being one of those mentioned.

The future of manager Carlos Corberan is also uncertain, with some sources tying him to the vacant position at Leicester City following Enzo Maresca’s departure to Chelsea. He is under contract with West Brom until 2027, and the club hopes he will stay faithful.

West Brom wants to sign a “very special” player.
According to a new report from Football Insider, West Brom are interested in acquiring Mikey Johnston on a permanent basis in the summer after a successful loan spell at the Hawthorns. According to the source, the Baggies are “exploring a deal” for the winger, assessing the options of a permanent move or another loan, with Celtic demanding at least £6 million for him.

It continues by stating that “Carlos Corberan’s side are expected to move players on to raise funds in the transfer window, in an attempt to fund their summer business” .

Signing Johnston permanently makes perfect sense for West Brom this summer, given the great influence he made after joining from Celtic. In 17 Championship starts, the 25-year-old scored seven goals and assisted twice. Former goalkeeper Joe Hart has also praised the Scot, citing the Republic of Ireland’s success in acquiring him when he switched from playing Scotland.
