Dodgers 2021 season in review: Dennis Santana - True Blue LA

This past weekend, Santana made appearances in two of the three games against the Dodgers. He gave up three hits, three earned runs, and three strikeouts on 51 pitches in two innings. Santana had a terrible stint in New York, with a 6.26 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 19 strikeouts, and a.262 opponent batting average. The waiver procedure will now be followed by the 28-year-old.

In 2013, Santana became an international free agent and was signed by the Dodgers. As he advanced through the Dodgers’ farm system, he overtook players like Dustin May, Gavin Lux, and Caleb Ferguson to rank as the team’s No. 10 prospect in 2018. In June 2018, Santana made his major league debut against the Colorado Rockies, giving up five runs on six hits in 3.2 innings but still managing to win in relief.

The Dominican Republic native played for the Dodgers for the following three more seasons, recording a 2-2 record, 6.42 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts in 40.2 innings pitched across 32 games. In June 2021, Santana was finally designated for assignment by the Dodgers.

Before agreeing to a minor league deal with the Yankees before the 2024 season, he played for the Texas Rangers and New York Mets after his time in Los Angeles.
