A Brentford man praises the team’s “amazing” management while acknowledging he is on a “indefinite contract.”
Manu Sotelo, the goalie coach at Brentford, has disclosed that he is under contract for a “indefinite period” with the team as he begins his fourth season there.
Speaking with Faro de Vigo, the Spanish coach explained why he may stay at Brentford for as long as he pleases and about living there.
After stints with Celta de Vigo, Deportivo La Coruña, Nottingham Forest, and Al-Ahli SC, the 43-year-old joined Brentford in August 2020 as a member of Thomas Frank’s backroom team.
Compared to his very brief stays at his former teams, he has played 184 games with the Bees, the most of any player in his career.
The goalkeeping staff began to expand with the arrival, and as they’ve established themselves as a Premier League side, they’ve subsequently developed and expanded the setup even further.
Thomas Frank has given them a lot of training; the Danish coach prefers his team to play out of the back in a style that frequently uses players like David Raya and Mark Flekken.
Sotelo has played a significant role in that and, despite his opinion that Brentford is an oddball club generally, he finds the entire thing amazing
He remarked, “Even though it is unusual in this world, I have an indefinite contract.”
This is an oddball club. About 200 individuals applied for the role of goalie coach, and I was selected after three rounds of interviews. Everything has been expanding ever since.
“There is a goalkeeping department; they help you with tasks like getting the ball out and offer you more and more opportunities and a position within the club.
“The way they handle their human capital is amazing.”
