During the NBA Finals, Kyrie Irving shares a message with his Dallas Mavericks teammate Luka Doncic.

It’s no secret that this year’s NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics are difficult for Kyrie Irving and company. As their troubles on the grandest stage of them all persist, it turns out that the former NBA champion has a message for the Slovenian star.

Irving declared his intention to depart the Cleveland Cavaliers following the 2016–17 season in an attempt to emerge from behind LeBron James. As a result, the franchise sent him to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, who was the center. After forming an alliance with Gordon Hayward and a gifted youthful core, Irving was able to secure the leadership position he had always desired.

But over the course of two seasons, things did not go as expected during his time with the Celtics. In addition to challenges with his injuries, rumors of a lack of chemistry and tense relationships with his teammates appeared. Even though Irving had a good game with 24.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists, there were growing tensions in the locker room.

The Mavericks are still without a victory over the Celtics as the NBA Finals play out this year. Irving’s offensive shortcomings have been one of the major factors. Irving, who is playing in front of a hostile Boston crowd when it had previously been adoring, has averaged just 14.0 points on a difficult 35.1 field goal percentage in Games 1 and 2.

During the NBA Finals, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks sent a message to Luka Doncic.
Irving, never one to disappoint his teammates, decided to take the fall for the Mavericks’ current struggles. The All-Star guard revealed what he said to Doncic recently in a piece published by Kurt Helin for NBC Sports.

Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game over the course of 58 games in the regular season. But in the postseason, the former star of the Cavaliers played a crucial role in Dallas’ victory over multiple Western Conference heavyweights on route to the NBA Finals.

Irving’s ability to change the course of events is still up in the air, especially given the Mavs’ 0–3 deficit. Whatever the situation, Game 4 will be critical for Doncic and company.
