A Carolina Panthers receiver offers encouraging news regarding Bryce Young.

Bryce Young, a rookie quarterback for the Carolina Panthers who was selected first overall in the previous year’s draft out of the University of Alabama, was widely regarded as the best quarterback and maybe the finest athlete in the 2023 draft class.

But last season, he didn’t exactly play like it.

While leading his Panthers to the poorest record in the NFL, Young toiled terribly, completing just 59.8% of his pass attempts for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

At this point, some may be ready to declare Young a bust. However, several NFL quarterbacks have had bad first seasons before rising to prominence quickly.

Diontae Johnson, a wide receiver the Panthers signed last spring from the Pittsburgh Steelers, did share a positive development with him regarding the former Crimson Tide player.

Johnson remarked, “He’s making his reads quicker.” “He feels more confident to play harder and smarter just because there are more receivers available who can win.”

According to Diontae Johnson, Bryce is finishing his readings more quickly. adds that it helps that he has more faith in his receivers. tweet.com/TEpcXSNsPU

In 2024, Bryce Young possesses more weaponry.
Although Johnson might not be the next Steve Smith Sr., the Panthers’ five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver from the 2000s and early 2010s, he should provide Young with another trustworthy offensive threat.

In the previous season, Carolina’s run game was weak as well, ranking 30th in terms of running touchdowns, and Young had Adam Thielen, who gained 1,014 yards but just four scores.

The Panthers finished dead last in total yards and 31st in points scored overall.

Xavier Legette, a rookie wide receiver from the University of South Carolina (32nd overall pick), appears to be a promising addition to the club. A few months ago, he ran the 40-yard sprint in 4.39 seconds at the scouting combine, and he finished the previous season with 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns.

Young was an extremely prolific signal-caller for Alabama. In two seasons and 27 games as a starter, he passed for 8,200 yards and 80 touchdowns. In 2021, he won the Heisman Trophy with 4,872 yards and 47 touchdown passes.

That performance appears to suggest that he may still succeed at the professional level if he makes the necessary changes and puts in the necessary effort

Maybe Panthers supporters should be reminded that, despite winning Rookie of the Year in 2011, Cam Newton only completed 60.0% of his throws with 17 interceptions compared to just 21 touchdown passes.

However, he improved over the following several years and reduced the number of interceptions he made, which helped him win the league MVP title in 2015.

Although Bryce Young is a considerably less impressive physical specimen than Newton, he may have more natural ability as a passer. Of course, he isn’t the same ground threat.
