LATEST: Portsmouth manager discusses his interest in a £11 million attacker as Sunderland, Derby County, West Brom, QPR, and other teams continue to pursue him.
John Mousinho expressed his respect for Josh Murphy when the attacker is still being sought after.
But the Pompey manager stressed that while the young attacker chooses his own path, it is important to respect the transfer process.
Murphy is being pursued by the Blues and other Championship teams following Oxford United’s successful second half of the season.
The 29-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from Sunderland, Derby, West Brom, Hull, and QPR, while Oxford United is fighting to retain Murphy at the Kassam Stadium following their promotion to the Championship.
After a season with the U’s in which he scored 10 goals and five assists, and has eight goals in the league since February, the Londoner’s reputation has taken off.
Mousinho will be hoping that his personal connections—the guy who spent £11 million to relocate to Cardiff from Norwich in 2018—can tilt the scales in his team’s favor.
