News from Auburn Tigers: Auburn Football Agrees to Close Recruitment
Several Auburn football commits end their recruitment and commit to the Tigers, according to today’s Auburn Tigers News.
The Auburn football program had many prospects on campus for their official visits over the course of a busy recruiting weekend. Among them was 4-star safety Eric Winters, who committed to the Tigers while on campus.
Some of the guests chose to end their recruitment, while others who had committed to the Tigers were on the Plains and others were undecided or had committed to another institution for the time being.
Ryan Ghea, a tight end commit to Auburn football, is the first. The four-star prospect from Alpharetta, Georgia, decided to make this weekend his official visit so he could assist in recruiting the other guests, who included former Auburn tight end commit Hollis Davidson. Ghea said on his own Twitter after his visit that he was locked in with the Tigers for good.
The next commit from Auburn to end his recruitment was Fort Walton Beach, Florida’s 3-star cornerback Dante Core. After committing last month, Core paid the university an official visit and had the opportunity to speak with coaches and players.
According to Auburn Rivals, Core stated, “Hanging out with the players was definitely my favorite part of the trip.” It’s like a family, which I like. Like being at home, but not quite.”
Additionally, 4-star offensive tackle Carde Smith of Mobile, Alabama, gave the Tigers confirmation. There will be no flipping from Auburn, Smith told Auburn Rivals, despite his plans to visit USC the next weekend and maybe Mississippi State and Florida State as well.
“It helps me see that I made the right decision to come to Auburn,” Smith stated. You never have to worry about anything because there is just love in the air. You are protected by them. I’m secured. There isn’t any swapping.
