After bidding Columbus Crew farewell in tears over the weekend, American midfielder Aidan Morris is expected to sign a contract with Middlesbrough in the coming days.

Morris’ transfer to Teesside is already under contract, with Boro expected to spend almost £3 million to get the 22-year-old midfield player.

Although the discussions were already over, Boro allowed Morris to play his last game for Columbus Crew in the MLS against Sporting Kansas City.

Morris was moved to tears as his substitution was announced, having played for the first hour as his team won 4-0 and putting up a goal for Cucho Hernandez.
