The Norwegian defender is not West Bromwich Albion’s first summer transfer deal, the team has announced.
The midfielder Ousmane Diakite, who was formerly with TSV Hartberg in the Austrian Bundesliga, has joined the Baggies.

The 23-year-old, who made 34 appearances and scored two goals in the last campaign, has agreed to a two-year deal with a one-year club option.

Diakite, an eight-time Mali Under-20 international, dreams of joining his country’s senior squad in the future. His prospects should improve after moving to England, and he can’t wait to start working at The Hawthorns.

Diakite stated on West Brom’s official website, “I am thrilled to be joining such a massive club.”

Playing in England has always been a dream of mine, and I’m eager to get going. I’m committed to doing my best every day to get better because I want to succeed here.

“Ousmane is a young, talented midfielder with the potential to continue his growth as a player in England,” said Carlos Corberan, head coach of Albion.

His on-ball demeanor will facilitate our change from defense to attack.

“His physical attributes and prior experience in Austria’s top league overseas will aid him in adjusting to the intense demands of the Championship.”

It is anticipated that West Brom would recruit Tobjorn Heggem, a top player for IF Brommapojkarna, in addition to Diakite. The defender is set to clinch a permanent contract after passing a medical examination.

The Norwegian, who plays mostly center half but is also frequently used at left back, will provide Carlos Corberan with excellent versatility at the back. It’s a shrewd decision because Heggem can immediately replace departing Erik Pieters. Pieters’ contract with Brommapojkarna was scheduled to end in December.
