In response to the announcement that Elliott Anderson is departing Newcastle, Anthony Gordon
Despite Eddie Howe’s desire to keep the 21-year-old, Newcastle manager, the player ultimately changed his mind about his future.
Although Anderson had originally desired a new contract at St. James’ Park, he completed his move to the City Ground because Nottingham Forest is a reputable Premier League team and because they offered some alluring personal incentives.
Although selling Anderson doesn’t seem to have been in the cards, Newcastle may have been compelled to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League.
If those rules—which prohibit teams from losing more than £105 million over the course of three accounting years—were broken, the club may have lost ten points.
Therefore, his leaving could have been a necessary evil.
That doesn’t make it any easier to take, though, as Anthony Gordon addressed his teammate’s exit.
Recently, the winger disclosed that Anderson was, in reality, one of his closest football buddies.

Anderson wrote a heartfelt greeting to Newcastle fans on
The text said: “Representing my club for 14 years has been an absolute dream come true. The moment I pulled my black and white outfit on at St. James’ Park will always be cherished.
“I want to express my gratitude to all the club members and Geordies who have helped and encouraged me along the way.
“I have and always will be a supporter of the club and hope for the best for all those connected. One door opens as the other closes. I’m grateful.
Eddie Howe was greatly impacted by Elliot Anderson.
Anderson’s tenure at Newcastle comes to an unfortunate conclusion.
After all, the 21-year-old allegedly astounded Howe and his coaching team the moment they laid eyes on him.
It is very unfortunate that Howe was denied the opportunity to go further, especially because the Premier League’s regulations may have been the only reason for this.
Due to a financial requirement, the club had to part with one of Gordon’s closest pals in the game.
It is quite regrettable.
