Patriots RB Agrees to a 4-YEAR, $36 MILLION CONTRACT Extension
Rhamondre Stevenson, the starting running back for the New England Patriots, has signed a long-term contract deal. Ian Rapoport, an insider with NFL Network, said that the $36 million deal is for four years.
Stevenson, who was about to enter the last year of his rookie contract, is guaranteed $17 million. In addition, he may receive incentives worth up to $12 million if he scores 1,400 yards from scrimmage and is selected for the Pro Bowl or All-Pro team.
Despite spending the majority of the season as a backup, Stevenson had his breakthrough year in 2022 when he added 69 receptions for 421 receiving yards and one score in addition to 1,040 yards of rushing.
Only 12 games and 619 running yards were achieved by Stevenson in 2023 due to a string of ailments. The agreement, however, shows that the current Patriots brass—which is led by head coach Jerod Mayo and president of player personnel Eliot Wolf—still think Stevenson is the ideal fit for their system.
The most recent Pats player to receive an extension in recent memory is Stevenson. In order to retain talented players on the team, the team offered new contracts to linebacker Joshua Uche, tight end Hunter Henry, and safety Kyle Dugger, among other players.
