Alec Martinez, a former Vegas Golden Knight, signs a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks

This season, Vegas has suffered more losses than the Stanley Cup. The 16-year-old defenseman Alec Martinez revealed that he has signed a four-million dollar contract with the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2024–25 season. Alec has always been a reliable player, and his ability to remain cool under duress, be a great man, and block shots makes him a favorite among Vegas supporters. In Vegas, he will be missed, and his impact on the Blackhawks will be immense.

Alec was born not far from Detroit in Rochester Hills, Michigan. After his family relocated to Fremont, California, while he was a little child, he took up hockey. His enthusiasm increased, and he joined the San Jose Jr. Sharks. He then played varsity basketball in high school and college at Miami University, where he was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Draft and selected 97th overall.

In 2008, he made his debut with the Manchester Monarchs, the LA Kings’ AHL club, after being chosen by them. Martinez has joined the Kings roster in 2009, his NHL debut. Alec joined the Kings’ full-time roster and remained there until the 2019–2020 season, when he was moved to Vegas. His three Stanley Cup victories—two with LA and the most recent with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023—attest to his extraordinary abilities and commitment. Alec has experience playing in the NHL, AHL, and the Ligia League’s TPS Turku. He also signed with the Allen Americans, who were once in the WHL but are now in the ECHL, during the 2012 lockout crisis.

Throughout his career, Alec Martinez experienced a number of remarkable events. With 82 games, nine goals, 30 assists, 24 penalty minutes, and 39 points, his finest season with the LA Kings was 2016–17. His two most memorable moments, though, were during the 2014 season when he won the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime and the Western Conference Finals with a goal. His talent and capacity to perform well under duress were on full display in these occasions, providing the audience with exciting experiences.
