Though he may not be close to agreeing to a desired contract extension with the 49ers, unresolved wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk does not necessarily imply he is prepared to ask for a trade before training camp sessions start later this month.

According to Marc Adams of 49ers WebZone, “For Aiyuk and the 49ers, they had conversations recently,” NFL insider Mike Garafolo stated on the most recent episode of NFL Network’s “The Insiders” show. According to what I gather, they are not any closer to a trade request than they are to a deal. He has never looked at that before in this particular circumstance. In addition, he needs to return to work before training camp to try and finish things.”

Aiyuk, who is still in the last year of his rookie deal, hinted that he would play for the Pittsburgh Steelers or Washington Commanders in the future on a recent edition of “The Pivot Podcast”. The 26-year-old, nevertheless, then stated to TMZ Sports that he “for sure” intends to be a member of the 49ers until the 2024 season.

During that brief conversation, Aiyuk said, “Everyone can rest easy.” The Almighty is on our side. Everyone may relax now.”

Insider shares if Aiyuk is close to deal, trade request

Last week, it was reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network (via Grant Gordon) that Aiyuk and the 49ers “would take some time to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday before resuming their work at hammering out a long-term pact.”

Though veteran 49ers players like Aiyuk aren’t expected to report for training camp until July 23, many media anticipate a settlement between the two parties will be reached between this coming Monday and the team’s September 9 regular-season opening against the New York Jets.

“He has alluded to the fact that he thinks he’s going to be with the Niners in some form or fashion in ’24,” Garafolo said of Aiyuk.

As the overwhelming favorite to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX, San Francisco has Aiyuk contracted for the upcoming season and has the option to keep his rights via the franchise tag in 2025.

In other words, if negotiations between his team and the 49ers fail to materialize within the next two and a half weeks, the 2020 first-round draft selection could have to consider making a trade request.
