REPORT: Pending physical examination, the Minnesota Vikings want to add a Super Bowl-winning offensive weapon.
For the 2024 season, the Minnesota Vikings want to reintroduce an offensive weapon that won a Super Bowl. The Vikings have made it a priority to acquire and hold onto talented players this summer as they center their new offense around rookie J.J. McCarthy.
The Minnesota Vikings are well-armed.
Sam Darnold seemed to have a strong hold on the starting quarterback position before to training camp, thus McCarthy might not start this season. But when McCarthy is prepared to take over, Aaron Jones, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Justin Jefferson will be on the field.
Oddly enough, the Vikings’ main concerns this summer are who will replace Alexander Mattison as RB2 behind Jones after he left for Las Vegas and who will take over as WR3 in New England behind K.J. Osborn.
Before July 4th, the Vikings seem to have answered one question.
The Vikings plan to re-add Cam Akers.
If Cam Akers passes a physical, the Vikings are likely to re-sign him, according to Charley Walters of Twin Cities.
Akers and the Los Angeles Rams prevailed in Super Bowl LVI. Last season, the Vikings acquired Akers in a trade with the Rams. During the previous season, he ran for 138 yards and one score in six games with the Vikings. With 11 receptions, he gained 70 yards. He ended the season on injured reserve after sustaining an Achilles injury in Week 9.
Over his four years in the NFL, the former second-round choice has rushed for 1,581 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Akers, who are 25 years old, will offer the youthful Vikings offense a lot of promise.
