FSU football: July commitment date set by top 2025 blue-chip wide receiver prospects

Over the last week, FSU football recruiting sent shockwaves through the business by adding five blue-chip pledges to their class of 2025 recruits. One was CJ Wiley, a much sought-after big-bodied wide receiver with exceptional speed who could spread the field vertically. After signing many receivers in the 2024 recruiting cycle, FSU appears to be picky in its selection of receivers. Blue-chip Daylan McCutcheon is one of their main targets in their recruitment drive to fill positions. As a slot receiver, McCutcheon would provide a striking contrast to Wiley. At 5’11” and 175 pounds, he is ranked as the 102nd best player in the country. In Texas, he is ranked as the 18th player and the 14th receiver. McCutcheon selected FSU, Texas, Ohio State, USC, and SMU, and he set a commitment date on July 13.

In May, McCutcheon paid formal visits to Ohio State and SMU, out of the five institutions. The final visit was to FSU, while the other three occurred in June. Eighteen additional highly-coveted prospects were hosted by FSU that same weekend, and four of them have committed to the Noles in the last week. Is FSU able to get the out-of-state player? They have several projections that favor the Noles and appear to be in a strong position.

It is, however, challenging to convince players to travel across numerous states, as we seen earlier on Monday with other out-of-state players. Texas presently has one of the finest quarterbacks committed in KJ Lacey from Alabama, but no receivers have committed. Over the past two seasons, the Longhorns have produced well at the receiver position. Under Mike Norvell, FSU has produced a lot, and its offenses have been among the best in the last two seasons. Ignoring Ohio State in the presence of Brian Hartline would be stupid. Given how NIL and other factors impact things these days, two weeks is a long time in the recruitment game. Until then, we’ll need to maintain an ear to the ground to see how events develop. If the Noles could get his commitment, he would be a GIGANTIC acquisition.
