Richest NBA Contract Ever Secured by Duke Basketball One-And-Done
With the Celtics, former Duke basketball player Jayson Tatum struck big time.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, forward Jayson Tatum, a product of Duke basketball and the 2024 NBA champion, has agreed to a five-year, $315 million supermax deal extension. With this, the sensational Boston Celtics player has signed the highest-paying deal in NBA history, $11 million more than co-star Jaylen Brown did in July of last year.
Tatum, who is now 26 years old and has previously been selected to five NBA All-Star teams, finished the regular season averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. In the postseason, he finished with 25.0 points, 9.7 boards, 6.3 assists, and 1.1 steals in 19 games. With a 64-18 record, the Celtics tied the Phoenix Suns of 2021–22 for the most victories in a regular season this decade.
For the third consecutive year, 6-foot-8 Tatum was chosen for the All-NBA First Team.
