Two Detroit Tigers are chosen for the American League All-Star Team in 2024.
2 Detroit Tigers Have Been Chosen for the First-Ever All-Star Game Since 2017, outfielder Riley Greene and pitcher Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers have been chosen to play in the 2024 All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas, which will be their first time attending the esteemed occasion.

Greene and Skubal’s Outstanding Detroit Tigers seasons
The 27-year-old Skubal, who was selected in the ninth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, has become one of the league’s best pitchers. He recovered from an injury that kept him out of the game for most of 2023, and this season he has dominated with a 10-3 record, 2.37 ERA, and 132 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched. After learning of his selection only hours before a game that featured a career-high 13 strikeouts, Skubal said, “You try to kind of hide the emotion, but it’s special to be announced in front of the team and these guys that you go to battle with every day.”

 

Tarik Skubal reaches career high

Since making his 2022 debut, Greene, 23, has improved even more. He was selected fifth overall in the 2019 draft. He has a.261 batting average, 17 doubles, 5 triples, 17 home runs, and a.356 on-base percentage this season. “Getting named [for the All-Star team] is just something that shows you’re doing the right things, you’re helping your team when you’re playing well,” said an ecstatic Greene. It’s a recognition of your accomplishments.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch remarked, “It’s really awesome because I got to see the reaction of the players—Tarik and Riley were incredibly excited—and their teammates were so supportive and happy for them.” “Good news is always welcome, and the team reacted appropriately.”

The Tigers’ history of All-Star choices has reached a significant milestone with the announcement of their choice; the last player chosen by player or fan voting occurred in 2016. Skubal’s accomplishments and those of Greene, who intends to surprise his family in Florida during the All-Star break, are indicative of the Tigers’ bright future. The commissioner’s office selected players, players cast ballots, and fans cast ballots to decide the rosters for the 2024 All-Star Game. Skubal and Greene have both been selected, which highlights their exceptional performances and contributions to the club this season.
