Trade Proposal Sends Brandon Ingram To Spurs, Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, Draft Picks To Pelicans

An NBA analyst suggested that Brandon Ingram be acquired by the San Antonio Spurs from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The following trade proposal was put out by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley for the Spurs and Pelicans:

Idea for trade: The San Antonio Spurs send Brandon Ingram to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, a 2025 first-round pick (protected by CHI, via top-10), a 2025 first-round pick (protected by CHA, via lottery), a 2025 second-round pick (via CHI), a 2025 second-round pick (via NOP), and a 2026 second-round pick (via UTA).

Buckley stated, “The Spurs could be a factor in the playoff race next season.” The moment they figure out how to squeeze Victor Wembanyama in there, they should rise to prominence quickly.

“Having a shot-creator like Ingram might be really beneficial for this offense. He has been averaging at least 20 points and five assists every season for the past three years. Only fifteen other players in the Association can make the same claim, and the majority only know casual fans by first name.

“San Antonio would be adding capable plug-and-play contributors who can teach winning habits to this young, talented roster between Ingram, Chris Paul, and Harrison Barnes.” It would be unnerving to witness this outside of Alamo City.

Ingram’s contract is coming to an end this year. Next season, he will earn $36 million.

Ingram, a Duke product, shot 80.1% from the free-throw line, 35.5% from three, and 49.2% from the floor in 2023–24 while averaging 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks.

Spurs: Predicting When Keldon Johnson Will Be an NBA All-Star

In the first round of the 2024 playoffs, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Pelicans sweepingly.

With the Los Angeles Lakers and Pelicans, Ingram has averaged 19.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks over his career. The Most Improved Player of the Year Award for 2019–20 went to him.

Ingram was acquired by the Pelicans from the Lakers in the historic Anthony Davis deal of 2019.

With Ingram, New Orleans has yet to win a postseason series.

Veteran NBA insider Marc Stein claims that Ingram’s representatives are searching for clubs willing to give the forward $210 million. Ingram is requesting an extension of $210 million.
