After a stellar collegiate career at Florida State, where he was voted ACC Sixth Man of the Year and All-ACC Freshman, Williams declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. He was picked fourth overall by the Chicago Bulls and signed a rookie scale deal with the organization in November 2020.
Williams made his NBA debut a month later, scoring 16 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in a defeat to the Atlanta Hawks. He continued to show promise during his rookie season, recording a season-high 24 points against the Brooklyn Nets in May 2021.

During the 2021-22 season, Williams had a dislocated wrist, necessitating surgery and sidelining him for many months. He returned to the floor in March 2022 and finished the season strong, scoring a career-high 35 points in the regular-season finale against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Despite playing only 43 games last season, the Bulls inked Williams to a five-year contract deal for $90 million. It remains to be seen if he can deliver on that promise or fall short as he has in previous years.

When questioned about his physical state, Bulls forward Patrick Williams, who is recovering from left foot surgery, said: “I’m doing really nicely. I’m sprinting and leaping right now. No pain. No swelling. “So it’s just a matter of getting my legs back under me,” Mayberry tweeted.

Over four seasons, Williams has averaged 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. He also shot 47 percent from the field, 41 percent from deep, and 78 percent from the foul line.

Williams is anticipated to return to action when the newest season begins. His presence will be critical for a Bulls squad that is currently searching for its identity after moving DeRozan.
