San Antonio’s first-round selection is out for the summer due to a wrist injury suffered against Portland.

Castle took a heavy tumble late in San Antonio’s 83-77 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. He popped up, gripping his wrist, but proceeded to play the game. The tumble is most likely related to his ailment, and the Spurs are taking precautions to keep him from getting damaged any more. Victor Wembanyama played only two games last season before being sidelined for the remainder of the summer. Given Popovich’s compliments and Castle’s dramatic fall, they might have seen enough of the youngster.

The Summer Spurs won their first game without Castle by upsetting first-round choice Zaccharie Risacher and the Atlanta Hawks 79-76. Spurs supporters will still get the opportunity to witness second-round choice Harrison Ingram for the remainder of the Summer League. G League stars such as Jamaree Bouyea and David Duke Jr. could appeal to Spurs fans seeking for a basketball fix.

The Spurs will play the New Orleans Pelicans in their next summer game on July 16th.
