Injuries & Moves: Effross reinstated from IL and optioned to Triple-A.
July 14: RHP Scott Effross was activated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Triple-A. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre: RHP Cody Morris has been designated for assignment, while INF Jorbit Vivas has been optioned to the team.
Effross, who underwent Tommy John surgery in October 2022, has been rehabilitating in Triple-A since June 26, following two outings with Single-A Tampa. He has a 4.91 ERA in seven outings for the RailRiders. Manager Aaron Boone has stated that Effross might return to the majors before the end of July. The Yankees will not necessary wait until he throws in consecutive games before activating him.

Morris, who was acquired from the Guardians in a December deal for center fielder Estevan Florial, has not thrown for the Yankees this year. He has a 4.25 ERA in 24 games (two starts) for the RailRiders, totaling 36 innings.

Vivas, New York’s No. 15 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, did not play in the Yankees’ three-game series at Camden Yards. Following the All-Star break, the team plans to activate infielder J.D. Davis.
10-Day/15-Day Injured List

DH Giancarlo Stanton (left hamstring strain).
Stanton is expected to return after the All-Star break. While he may not be ready for the opening game on July 19, manager Aaron Boone believes he will be “really close at that point.” Stanton has been doing hitting and baserunning drills, according to Boone.

According to Boone, the organization has not determined whether Stanton will be sent to the Minor Leagues for rehabilitation. Stanton only played one Minor League rehab game last year before returning to face major league pitching. Because Stanton would not be required to play on the field, he could practice using cutting-edge equipment like as the Trajekt pitching machine.

New York Yankees Law Enforcement Day - National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
Stanton started treadmill workouts on June 27 and “did quite a bit of running” on July 9, according to Boone. Stanton suffered a left hamstring injury while jogging the bases against the Braves on June 22 and had an MRI on June 23. He was told he would be on the disabled list for four weeks and got a platelet-rich plasma injection on June 23. This is Stanton’s eighth trip to the IL in the last six years. Last season, he missed 43 games due to a left hamstring issue that occurred in April. (Last updated on July 14).
C. Jose Trevino (left quad strain)

Trevino suffered a left quadriceps injury while jogging the bases on July 12 in Baltimore, with an expected return date of TBD. On July 13, he was placed on the 10-day injured list and had an MRI to assess the severity of the ailment. Trevino was set to meet with team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad on July 14 to explore treatment options. (Last updated on July 14).

INF: J.D. Davis (stomach flu)
Expected Return: After the All-Star break, Davis was absent from the team’s travel to Baltimore after the July 9-11 series at Tropicana Field due to illness, as reported by manager Aaron Boone. He was placed on the IL on July 12th, retroactive to July 9. Davis, who was acquired in a deal with the A’s in June, has struggled since joining New York, with one hit in 13 at bats. Expected return: September.
Domínguez is at the Yankees’ complex in Tampa, Fla., but has been limited in his activities, according to manager Aaron Boone on July 9. His workload is “not much of anything yet” and he “still has a ways to go.” Domínguez did minimal outfield practice at the club’s player development complex on July 10.

Domínguez, ranked as the No. 25 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, was hurt on June 15 while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. On June 20, Boone reported that Domínguez, 21, had a substantial strain in his oblique. Domínguez is likely to miss at least eight weeks of activity. (Last updated on July 10).

60-Day Injured List

Rizzo’s expected comeback date is mid-August. He is now confined to weight-room workouts as he heals from an injury incurred on June 16 in Boston. Rizzo was scheduled to miss eight weeks and not return to baseball activities for four to five weeks.

Rizzo collided with Boston pitcher Brennan Bernardino while going into first base, sliding over the bag and landed on his right arm. On July 12, Rizzo told YES Network that he was “feeling good” and that his bone was mending.

“It has clearly progressed a lot. Rizzo said there was still some discomfort, but it was to be expected with a shattered bone. “Definitely on the way to recovery and really excited to get back on the field and enjoy the game.” (Last updated on July 14).

RHP Lou Trivino (recovering from Tommy John surgery).
Trivino’s expected comeback date is Summer 2024. He has begun throwing from the mound after experiencing right elbow soreness in April. He met with the Yankees on July 11 at Tropicana Field.

“Trivino is doing a lot better,” Manager Aaron Boone stated. “I can see some energy as far as how he’s feeling and the fact that he’s on the mound.”

Dr. Neal ElAttrache and club doctors examined Trivino at the time of the accident and did imaging to ensure that the pitcher’s ulnar collateral ligament had not been damaged. Trivino is recuperating from Tommy John surgery, which occurred on May 3, 2023. (Last updated on July 11).

INF Jon Berti (left calf strain).
Expected Return: Berti has been hitting, throwing, and running at 95 percent as he prepares for a Minor League rehab assignment, according to manager Aaron Boone on July 11. Berti will remain at the club’s Tampa, Fla., facilities until the All-Star break, after which he may resume playing.

Berti, who was moved to the 60-day disabled list on June 12, was instructed to expect a six- to eight-week recuperation period after being injured on May 24 while running into first base. He was put on a 10-day IL the next day and had a PRP injection on May 28. (Last updated on July 11).

Pereira had reconstructive Tommy John surgery with an internal brace in early June, manager Aaron Boone said on June 14. Pereira has been playing despite the injury at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, with his last appearance for the RailRiders on May 14. Boone described Pereira’s injury as “unfortunate,” but noted that, like Jasson Domínguez, the organization expects him to recover. “This isn’t something that’s going to hurt his career too much,” Boone told the audience. “He should come back full strength from this.” (Last updated on June 15).

RHP Jonathan Loáisiga (right UCL tear).
Expected return: 2025
Loáisiga said on April 6 that he has a torn UCL that requires season-ending surgery. The treatment, which Loáisiga estimates would take 10 to 12 months to recuperate from, will be performed by Dr. Keith Meister.
