The Dallas Cowboys must decide on the futures of Micah Parsons, CeeDee Lamb, and Dak Prescott. All three top players are eligible for lucrative long-term contract extensions.
Parsons is entering the final season of his four-year, $17 million rookie deal. Dallas also has Parsons under contract for 2025, having picked up his fifth-year option. Parsons is expected to have a $21.3 million cap hit next season, a significant increase from $5.4 million in 2024.
There is little doubt that Parsons’ next contract will include a hefty increase, but the issue is how much. Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report provided estimations for some of the transactions that will reset the NFL market in their respective positions.
Parsons expects a five-year, $200 million contract with $130 million in guaranteed money. Parsons would receive an average yearly compensation of $40 million. Parsons would be paid at the same rate as many NFL quarterbacks.
The good news is that Parsons is under contract for at least another two seasons, giving the Cowboys some flexibility. The difficulty is that Parsons, Prescott, and Lamb’s bills are all due around the same time
Let’s look at how Parsons is poised to become one of the highest-paid NFL defenders.
