Chicago Bulls’ most experienced star now agrees to leave the club.
When people think of Dwyane Wade, they consider the Miami Heat. The NBA icon played in the league for 17 seasons, 15 of which were with the Miami Heat. The last two seasons were spent with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. Jimmy Butler was a member of the Bulls when Wade played there. Wade had the opportunity to coach several of the Chicago team’s younger players, but he acknowledges he did not do a good job.
Dwyane Wade returned to the Heat for the final two years of his career, and Jimmy Butler joined Miami the year following Wade’s retirement. Butler certainly ended out well and has had a successful NBA career, but Wade believes he had a detrimental influence on him.
“I set a bad precedent, and I apologize,” Wade stated during an appearance on 7PM in Brooklyn. “Jimmy Butler was on that squad, so he probably learned some nasty behaviors from me. I was old, and I was like, ‘Man, I get to live the NBA experience, I was a military baby for 14 years, I had one year to get out and stretch my arms,’ and I was about to take advantage. I apologize for not being a good vet to those folks. It wasn’t about you guys, it was about myself, therefore I apologize.”

Dwyane Wade understood he was past his peak when he joined the Bulls in 2016-17, but he had clearly established himself in the NBA. He was still a fine basketball player, but not as excellent as he had been. Nonetheless, Butler understood he could get away with a lot due of his position in the league.
“I got to enjoy it when I wasn’t good anymore, but I still had my status but I wasn’t that good no more to my standards, I’m not talking about the average basketball standards,” Wade goaded on. “I still could hoop, but to my standards I was like ‘alright, you ain’t him no more but I still got my status, so let me use this card.'”
Butler appears to have enjoyed his time with the Bulls, but it is evident that he has recognized that he might have been a more effective leader. He could have done a lot of good with his prominence at the time.
