He threw 30 pitches, 16 of which were strikes, before being replaced by right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo in the third inning. Olson was looking for his fourth consecutive win, having beaten Cincinnati and Cleveland before the All-Star break and the Chicago White Sox on June 23.

Reese Olson, 24, started the season 0-5 in his first nine starts but has considerably improved his play. He arrived in Toronto with a 4-8 record and a 3.30 ERA in 18 starts during his second major league season with the Tigers.
