Days after signing five-star cornerback DJ Pickett, LSU and head coach Brian Kelly have landed the commitment of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman five-star receiver Derek Meadows.
The 6-5, 200-pounder was a long-time Notre Dame lean, but everything changed during his official visit to LSU. The Tigers entertained him, rolled out the red carpet, and sealed the deal. LSU nearly received his pledge last weekend, on July 13, but chose to wait one more week to ensure he was completely satisfied with his decision. A week later, he chose the Tigers and could not be happier with his selection.
“From Day 1 those coaches believed in me and coach Hankton is a great coach who I know will get the best out of me,” Meadows tells 247Sports. “It’s all about progress with him, and I know he’ll train me just as well as anyone else. He believes in me and my ability, and I have confidence and faith in him as a coach, therefore I am confident we will work well together. The formal visit was a major deal for me.
The coaches treat everyone as if they were family. I know I want to be in that setting. Playing in the SEC will mean a lot, and I know I’ll keep working hard to compete with the best.”
