Overall, things might be lot worse, but the Braves’ second-half start hasn’t been fantastic. They’re already 1-4, and the injury bug has struck again. Max Fried, one of the greatest starting pitchers in the majors this season, is out with a forearm injury. Second baseman Ozzie Albies was also placed on the disabled list after breaking his wrist, and he will be sidelined for about eight weeks.
These injuries add to the long list of ailments the Braves have sustained throughout the 2024 season. Spencer Strider, a right-hander with a UCL injury, has been out since practically the start of the season, and Ronald Acuna Jr., who tore his ACL, followed shortly thereafter. However, the injuries have been spread throughout the season, with other players such as Sean Murphy, Austin Riley, and Michael Harris II, who has yet to heal from a hamstring injury sustained weeks ago.
Alex Anthopoulos, the Braves’ general manager, has once again sought to be inventive in his pursuit of any possible player who may help the organization ease these ailments. Presumably, this implies the Braves aren’t backing down from their postseason ambitions, and with the trade deadline approaching, if they want to enhance their squad, they’ll most likely have to deal with some top prospects.
