On Thursday, Brayden Yager checked another milestone off the list.
The Moose Jaw Warriors forward has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, his first contract in the National Hockey League.
The Penguins selected Yager with the 14th overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft.
The Saskatoon native enjoyed a great fourth season with the Warriors in 2023-24, helping the team win its first Western Hockey League championship.
Yager concluded the regular season with a career-high 35 goals and 95 points in 57 games. He went on to score 11 goals and 27 points in 20 postseason games, as well as three goals and six points in four Memorial Cup games.
Yager also made his debut for Canada in the IIHF World Junior Championship. He finished second on Team Canada in scoring, with two goals and five points in five games.
Yager has 104 goals, 146 assists, and 250 points in 211 games with the Warriors after being taken third overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
Yager will attend his second Penguins training camp this autumn.
