Good news: Spurs will bring back David Duke Jr on a two-way deal with one condition established by the coach.
According to agent Mike Simonetta, the San Antonio Spurs are once again signing guard David Duke Jr. to a two-way deal.Duke, 24, stands 6-foot-5 and has participated in 49 games over three seasons with the Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs. This included four games with the Spurs last season.
He has NBA career averages of 4.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.9 assists, with the majority of his professional experience coming in the G League.
Last September, Duke signed a training camp deal with the Philadelphia 76ers but was released before the season began. In December, he signed a two-way contract with the Spurs and remained with the team throughout the season.For the time being, he will be the Spurs’ two-way player with point guard Jamaree Bouyea. Rookie small forward Harrison Ingram, a second-round pick, may land San Antonio’s third and final two-way deal.
San Antonio has had a somewhat active summer, acquiring former Sacramento Kings big Harrison Barnes in a trade and signing veteran point guard Chris Paul.
Several rumors stated they were considering Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland, but this definitely never occurred.
“Cavaliers All-Star guard Darius Garland was another talented ball-handler the Spurs called about, sources said, although Cleveland has rebuffed any inbound trade interest for Garland to date,” Jake Fischer, of Yahoo Sports, said.
