Panthers position TE Sign TE; Stephen Sullivan is on IR. Hodges, Curtis

The Panthers have changed the tight end position on the roster twice.

With a quad injury, Carolina announced that Stephen Sullivan has been placed on injured reserve by the team.

Curtis Hodges has been signed by the team in response.

Over the past three seasons, Sullivan, 27, has made appearances in 28 games for Carolina. He caught 12 receptions in 11 games in 2023 for 125 yards.

The 25-year-old Hodges had joined the Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2022, the year he first entered the league. But he didn’t play in any games throughout the regular season.

Next Thursday, the Panthers and Patriots will play their first preseason game.

Capers, the head coach of the Panthers for the first four seasons, remarked, “It’s been great, every day I walk in this stadium, every time I walk out to the practice field, I think about the first time I walked into this stadium.”

When the Panthers played their inaugural season in 1995 in Clemson’s Memorial Stadium while their new stadium in Charlotte was being built, Capers saw his team’s home field for the first time.

Capers remarked, “I just thought it would be an exciting opportunity to start from scratch.” “You know it’s going to be a big challenge because we had about six months to prepare to play teams that had been doing it for forty and fifty years.”
