Ex-Texas Longhorn has plenty of justifications to join the Ragin’ Cajuns

The following step wasn’t too difficult once former Texas Longhorn Sam Ardoin decided to use the transfer site.

Ardoin declared, “I just decided that I’m going to go there if UL offers me.” “I really didn’t give other schools a chance to make an offer.”

The former baseball star at Sam Houston High had very obvious motivations for wanting to play for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

One reason is because friends and family are in Louisiana.

His mother Hope and father Danny, a former Major League catcher, are from Louisiana. Erin, the oldest sister, recently transferred from McNeese to play softball at UL.

The baseball family also includes Silas, who played at the University of Texas, and Drew, who attended Lamar. In 2022, Silas was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the draft.

With three years left to be eligible, Ardoin remarked, “It just feels right to come home and be close to my family.” “I have many friends who live in Louisiana who would like to attend and watch.”

In order to help him feel more at ease and give him information about the program, Ardoin also has pals on the UL roster.

Ardoin remarked, “I know (assistant) coach Thib (Seth Thibodeaux).” “Luke Yuhasz is one of my previous excellent teammates. Growing up, I used to play with Maddox Mandino.

Ardoin claimed that the team’s spiritual kinship drew him in as well.

He remarked, “I know how they’re one team; everyone’s on the same page.” It’s as though the cultures are different, and I’m okay with that.

“I am aware of their diligence, and that is my main focus. They perform the #waterhoseboys, and I agree with that as well.

After high school, Ardoin was regarded as the second-best shortstop in Louisiana, but in his first season at Texas, he only saw two at-bats in four games.

“I was fully committed to the team throughout the season,” Ardoin stated. “Yes, I considered transferring, but I was hesitant to speak out.

“I was just thinking when I got over here (summer ball) and I felt like the best thing for me was to get into the portal.”

Playing summer ball in San Luis Obispo, California, this summer, Ardoin immediately realized how much ground he had lost. Despite his best efforts to stay focused, he was unable to keep up with the Longhorns’ season from the bench.
