Strangely, the Golden State Warriors still haven’t signed a seven-foot stretch big man.

The Golden State Warriors had a busy July, adding new players, bidding farewell to some veterans, and finishing with a 14-man roster that included their three authorized two-way contract players.

However, one name appears to be oddly absent from the list of 17 players. Quinten Post was selected by the Warriors with the 52nd overall pick in the June NBA Draft, although his contract with the team has not been confirmed.

After drafting Quinten Post late in the second round of this year’s draft, what are the Golden State Warriors’ plans for the seven-footer?

All signs point to Post being on the roster in one capacity or another. Early in July, Anthony Slater of The Athletic stated that the Dutchman will be on a two-way deal. However, Daeqwon Plowden took over the slot after some impressive Summer League play.

Post, a 24-year-old, was introduced to the media at an initial news conference; this isn’t a situation where a late second-round selection is being used as a draft-and-stash player who would spend a year or two waiting for opportunities abroad. What is the delay, then?

Post will most likely replace Reece Beekman on a two-way deal because the Warriors are facing their first tax penalty and are unable to sign anybody else for the 15th roster position. However, the issue still stands: why hasn’t it happened before, even if it were to happen?

Conspiracy theories enter the picture at this point. Are the Warriors waiting on any more possible trades to add players on their roster, namely one involving the Utah Jazz and a particular seven-foot forward?

Everyone agrees that Golden State will almost certainly send more players out of the deal than they come in if they trade for Lauri Markkanen. That may free up one or two spaces on the roster, and ideally they have the money to add a few more players to take those spots.
