We are in Week 3 of the Las Vegas Raiders’ training camp. They had their last practice in Costa Mesa, California, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The Raiders then make their way to U.S. Bank Stadium for their first preseason game on Saturday at 3:00 PM CT against the Minnesota Vikings.
During training camp and the preseason, cornerback is a position to keep an eye on. There is just one starting cornerback place available: Jack Jones is expected to start on the left side, while Nate Hobbs is expected to start in the slot. The starting position was previously occupied by their former fourth-round pick.

After becoming a free agent, Amik Robertson joined the Lions. Robertson received considerable playing time in 2022, starting seven of the 17 games, after seeing little action in his first two seasons with the Raiders. In 2023, he played a big role as well, starting 12 of 17 games.
A youthful corner has come forward.
The second-year player for the Las Vegas Raiders has emerged as the favorite to start.
In his debut season, Jakorian Bennett started the first four games. Due to hamstring and shoulder injuries, he was forced out of the rotation and performed poorly, finishing 124th out of 127 players who were eligible.

Bennett went into Year 2 determined to improve. He has shown promise thus far throughout spring workouts and the first several weeks of training camp. He thus got first-team reps and is thought to be the frontrunner to start next to Jack Jones.
His efforts have pleased Antonio Pierce.
“Because he had a difficult rookie year, do you know what?” stated Pierce. “He began, engaged in some sports, and suffered some injuries. After that, he sits on the bench as more guys enter. As a rookie, you experience ups and downs, so I believe he’s done a tremendous job this year of psychologically preparing himself to face whatever comes his way. And when the chance presents itself to create plays, do so.
“Today, he made two excellent plays—one of which included tipping the ball and the other an interception—but generally, his confidence is gradually rising. And I just believe that [Brandon] Facyson is being well-mentored by Jack [Jones], Nate [Hobbs], and everyone else in that room.
Their youngster will contend for a starting position as well.

From 2020 to 2023, Decamerion Richardson was a member of the Mississippi State Bulldogs collegiate football team. In 45 games, 26 of which he started, he racked up 177 tackles and 10 pass deflections. He went to the Raiders 112th overall in the fourth round of the draft.
Like Bennett, he’s made an impression during training camp. He’ll fight for the starting position.
