NEW YORK (AP) — Ryan Lindgren was signed by the New York Rangers to a one-year deal on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.
With 2021 Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox skating on the top pair on the blue line, 26-year-old Lindgren has emerged as one of New York’s most significant players. Prior to the playoffs, he averaged over 19 minutes of ice time each game last season.
If he and the organization are unable to reach a contract extension by July 1st, the Minnesota native may become an unrestricted free agency the following summer.
Since Boston selected Lindgren 49th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, he has participated in 376 NHL regular-season and postseason games. He played his whole playing career with New York, having been acquired by the Rangers from the Bruins in 2018.
