Notably, the Dallas Cowboys lost a lot of players in the offseason and did not adequately replace them. Tyron Smith, a seasoned player who joined the Jets in free agency, was one of those names. When you add in Tyler Biadasz’s departure, the offensive line for the Cowboys appeared as vulnerable as ever when the preseason got underway.

O-line worries only got worse in the first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. With a toe injury, Chuma Edoga—who was most likely going to start at left tackle in Week 1—missed the game early. Following the game, the seasoned offensive lineman was spotted wearing a walking boot, and ESPN’s Todd Archer stated that there is “some concern” over his health.

Chuma Edoga leaves the game midway due to a toe injury in Cowboys news. This latest injury raises questions about depth at a crucial position.

The Dallas Cowboys just revealed the injury of another incredible star that raises questions about a key position.

The MRI results will undoubtedly give us more information, but this is not what Cowboys supporters were hoping to hear. Edoga was meant to relieve youngster Tyler Guyton of his starting left tackle duties. The Oklahoma native, 22, will now need to assume the starting role moving forward unless the Cowboys hear positive news from Edoga shortly.

It’s clear that the Cowboys anticipated Guyton would be their first-round selection and starter in the end. He was seen as a raw prospect, though, and could require some time to acclimate to the NFL. Thankfully for the Cowboys, the rookie seemed impressive throughout his Sunday plays.

That being said, the remainder of the offensive line is not in the same league. The Rams’ defense applied a lot of pressure to Trey Lance. The Cowboys need Edoga as their main swing tackle, even if Guyton starts in Week 1.

For the start of the season, Dallas is expected to start Terence Steele at right tackle, Zack Martin at right guard, Brock Hoffman at center, and Tyler Smith at left guard. The success of the Cowboys in the upcoming season will be largely determined by the offensive line, which, aside from Smith and Martin, is questionable on paper.
