New York Jets News: The team announces the addition of a highly skilled player to its roster for 2024–2025.
Though the 2023 season was disappointing, there is optimism in New York once more as Aaron Rodgers and the new offensive weapons they acquired for him are ready to try and make the Jets return to the postseason for the first time since 2010.
Of course, their quarterback, whom they went to such lengths to entice to New York, is the key to all of their possible success.
The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers Had a Lot of Arguments
Rodgers and the Packers have always gotten along well. In his first 12 seasons as starting quarterback for Green Bay, he won two NFL MVP Awards and advanced to top levels of play, winning Super Bowl XLV. The largest contracts in franchise history were given to him by the Packers in return for his outstanding play.
The 2019 season, however, marked the first one under head coach Matt LaFleur. Rodgers finished that season with a 95.7 passing rating, 4,002 yards, 26 touchdowns, and two interceptions on 62.0% of his throws.
Although the stats weren’t bad, they weren’t what fans had been expecting from Rodgers. They also signified the third season in a row that he had a decline in performance.
The Packers understood that their time without Aaron Rodgers behind center would come soon, even though they didn’t immediately need a replacement quarterback. They chose Jordan Love by trading up in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft as a result.
That choice signaled the beginning of the end for Rodgers’ time in Green Bay and his goodwill toward the team. Despite being a model teammate and mentor to his prospective successor, Rodgers’ interactions with the front office became sour.
