The NL Central-leading Brewers have only swept the Braves four times, and this was their second consecutive sweep in Atlanta. The other sweep took place in 2016. The Braves are currently on a five-game losing run after giving up 36 hits in their last two games and dropping the series 34-12.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy stated, “We played good defense, kind of unnoticed, to come here in their ballpark where we haven’t had a lot of success recently and play well all three days regardless of the outcome.” We played balls in play, ran pitch counts up, and scratched and pecked away offensively.
Jake Bauers, William Contreras, Garrett Mitchell, and Willy Adames all hit home runs for the Brewers in addition to Chourio, who finished 3 for 5 with four RBIs.
At 20 years and 150 days, Chourio made Brewers history as the team’s youngest player to ever hit two home runs in a single game.
In 1985, Billy Jo Robidoux set the record at age 21 years and 266 days. In addition, Chourio is the youngest baseball player to do this since Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Toronto in 2019.
