Latest News::::In 2024–2025, LSU Incorporates A Third DL With Dilan Battle Commitment

LSU is blazing hot on the field during fall camp, but they are also not slowing down when it comes to recruiting. Three-star defensive lineman Dilan Battle committed to the Tigers on Monday.

Bo Davis now has three defensive tackle prospects to work with at LSU in the class thanks to Battle, a 6-foot-2, 315-pound defensive lineman who is ranked No. 61 in the nation. Along with fellow Texas interior lineman Zion Williams and Florida’s Brandon Brown, Battle is a member of this group. LSU has always targeted Battle, but especially since Davis moved to Baton Rouge.

In order to start the summer, Battle paid a formal visit to Baton Rouge in late May. The visit left a lasting effect, especially because Battle was able to connect with Davis and meet some of the freshman, including Gabriel Reliford, who served as his host.

At the time, Battle told Geaux247, “Coach Bo told me I am a great player that he really wants to come here, and I have a great chance to come in and play right away.” “He told me what I need to work on and showed me a player I compared with in the NFL that he had previously at Texas.”

Battle was likened to Keondre Coburn, a former defensive lineman for Texas who was most recently selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the draft. LSU definitely places a high priority on getting him into the building as a tall, muscular interior lineman who will have the opportunity to learn under one of the top technique coaches in college football. The physical characteristics of every interior lineman the Tigers have committed in this class are a commonality. Even though these guys might not be the most skilled on the field, Brian Kelly brought in a coach like Davis to help these players develop into the greatest athletes their physical characteristics enable them to be.

Any one of these young defensive tackles has a clear chance to enter the game and compete right away for playing time. Although this is still a developing position, Davis’ addition of three players to the Tigers’ youthful core of Dominick McKinley, Ahmad Breaux, Shone Washington, and De’Myrion Johnson provides the team many opportunities to discover contributors at the position.

The 2026 class, which includes players like Dylan Berymon, Lamar Brown, Darryus McKinley, and Jahkeem Stewart, is where the actual growth may begin to manifest itself. Richard Anderson, a current four-star recruit in the 2026 class, is a great place to start, but more effort will be needed to improve this interior defensive line.

Getting individuals like Battle and providing them with early opportunities to compete for playing time ought to open the eyes of other players nationwide who are trying to fulfill similar requirements.
