Bills drop quarterback Due to a neck ailment, Shane Buechele will probably sign a backup. QB
The Bills are trying to find a new backup quarterback.

In Saturday’s preseason defeat to the Bears, Shane Buechele, the Bills’ backup behind Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky, suffered a neck injury that will need time away from play.

Sean McDermott, the coach of the Bills, stated that he and General Manager Brandon Beane are talking about their alternatives for a third quarterback, suggesting that the Bills would hire a replacement.

Currently a free agent, Matt Barkley was the third-string quarterback for the Bills in 2022. He would be a nice match to come up and earn some repetitions for the remainder of training camp and the preseason.

The 26-year-old Buechele has played for the Chiefs and Bills throughout his stint as a collegiate football player. He originally attended Texas and then SMU. In the preseason game on Saturday, he was sacked six times and completed six of ten passes for 53 yards with one interception, no touchdowns, and one pick.
