After missing out on the NFL playoffs last season, the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams made it to the postseason. The Seattle Seahawks will be hoping to make a strong comeback in the 2024 NFL season.

In addition to missing the postseason following a 2022 season that was full of promise, the Seahawks saw longstanding head coach Pete Carroll resign and take on a new role within the organization, which is a significant shift to say the least.

The Seahawks have appointed 37-year-old Mike Macdonald as their new head coach, but they will continue to use seasoned quarterback Geno Smith in the starting lineup for the forthcoming campaign.

Smith is anticipated to start for the Seahawks in their Week 1 matchup at Lumen Field against the Denver Broncos.

The quarterback Sam Howell, who was acquired by the Seahawks in an offseason deal with the Washington Commanders, is expected to be Smith’s backup going forward.Seahawks News 1/11: The Pete Carroll Era is over - Field Gulls

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Seahawks have now bolstered their quarterback room by adding former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall to the practice squad. The Seahawks need some insurance because they are relying so heavily on Smith and Howell, two respectable quarterback alternatives. This is probably why Hall was signed.

As Seattle attempts to turn things around as the post-Carroll era gets underway, it will be intriguing to watch how Smith does in the upcoming season.
