One of the guys to whom Steph Curry murmured “night, night” during the Olympics may wind up joining the Golden State Warriors.
Using statements from Caboclo’s agent Daniel Hazan, BasketNews revealed on Tuesday that former NBA player Bruno Caboclo is practicing for the Warriors this week. According to the report, Caboclo is interested in signing a deal with the Warriors, but he also has the option of playing for Israel’s Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C.
The Toronto Raptors selected Caboclo, 28, in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft (at selection No. 20 overall), but he never saw much action in the league and ended up being used as bench warmer for three different teams. But Caboclo’s reputation has been improving since his 2021 NBA debut.
In the NBB, Brazil’s highest basketball league, he was named MVP. In Germany, he finished the previous season as a champion and All-Bundesliga First Teamer. Caboclo represented his country Brazil brilliantly at the Olympics in Paris. He had three 30-point performances, including one against the United States in the Olympic quarterfinal, and averaged 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Caboclo, who is 6-foot-9 with length, three-point shooting skills, and versatility at both big man positions, has caught the attention of a former Warriors foe. For a Golden State squad that has been considering intriguing possible frontcourt reinforcements this summer, that may be a terrific fit.
