Two-time Super Bowl champion joins the Seattle Seahawks following a contract agreement

The Seattle Seahawks are still looking for a wide receiver.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, former Kansas City Chiefs receiver and returner Kadarius Toney paid the Seahawks a visit on Tuesday. The defending two-time Super Bowl champions made roster cuts and released the 2021 first-round selection of the New York Giants.

During his debut year, Toney caught just 39 catches for 420 yards and failed to score a touchdown. Midway through 2022, the Giants sold him to the Chiefs in exchange for a third- and sixth-round selection, ending his brief stay with the team. It was inevitable that he would score one of his three receiving touchdowns in a 24-10 victory over the Seahawks. Against the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 38-35 championship victory, Toney caught the game-winning touchdown, setting a new record for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.

Chiefs GM Says He'd Do Kadarius Toney Trade Again 'In a Heartbeat'

Toney made a special effort to drop everything that Patrick Mahomes threw at him in 2023. Though he was a healthy scratch against the San Francisco 49ers, he still gets to call himself a two-time Super Bowl champion after catching 27 catches for just 169 yards and a score.

Typically, one would argue in favor of a draft bust by pointing out that Taylor is younger than Jake Bobo and that stronger teaching is required. That was meaningless when he was a very inefficient receiver playing for the NFL’s finest head coach-quarterback combination.

This is not a sign of an impending signing—this is merely a visit. Even on the practice squad, I’d prefer not to see him wearing a Seahawks uniform.
