OLs Geron Christian, Ty Nsekhe, and Dylan McMahon to Sign with the Rams
Recalling their circumstances from 2022, the Rams have experienced significant offensive line issues from the start. They will thus start using one of their haphazard fixes in 2022. Per his agency, Ty Nsekhe is re-signing with the organization.
Nsekhe and Geron Christian are both being signed by the Rams. During their careers, both players have largely served as tackles. This year, Christian attended Titans camp, however he was left off of the 53-man roster. Nsekhe played with Christian and the Browns the previous season. Nsekhe will be able to participate in his age-39 season as a result.
Dylan McMahon, a member of the Eagles practice squad, is also being signed by Los Angeles, per his agency, as the team balances needs throughout their front. McMahon is a rookie UDFA that the organization is stealing from another P-squad, thus he has to be on the active roster for at least three weeks. Given the grave circumstances facing the position group, it seems sense that Nsekhe and Christian are joining the Rams’ taxi squad, maybe in anticipation of a swift ascent.
The Rams were missing veteran right tackle Rob Havenstein against the Lions in addition to being without banned left tackle Alaric Jackson. Steve Avila was then lost to an MCL strain, which is probably going to force him into injured reserve. Joe Noteboom also fell down during the game, resulting in the activation of AJ Arcuri from the practice squad. Although Kevin Dotson was active the whole game, the team’s starting guard is sidelined by a lateral ankle strain.
With an ankle ailment, Havenstein, who was not on the injured list in 2022, was unable to attend the opening game. Right now, the Rams’ only available healthy starter is Jonah Jackson. Additionally, the four-year Lions LG missed the preseason due to injury. Since joining the Rams, he has already switched from left guard to center back to LG. The Rams have some more bodies coming in to help with the squad during practice, as backups are already extensively involved.
Early in the 2022 season, the Rams signed Nsekhe, who started eight games as a journeyman. Nsekhe is going to be with the Rams for the third time. In 2012, Les Snead made his general manager debut with the St. Louis Rams, where he started his career. However, he then moved to Dallas, Buffalo, and Washington. Nsekhe, who turns 39 in October, participated in two games for the Browns the previous year.
Christian, who turns 28 today, and Nsekhe have each made 25 starts. They were teammates in 2018 (Washington) and 2023 (Cleveland). Christian’s most recent game experience was in Cleveland, working for Bill Callahan. Christian played left tackle for the Browns during the second part of the season after they lost their top three tackles the previous year.
