League One Boss Predicts The Early Impact Steve Bruce’s Appointment Will Have On Blackpool FC

Steve Bruce takes charge of Blackpool for the first time this weekend – as the Seasiders welcome Exeter City to Bloomfield Road.
The Grecians have won two of their opening four games in League One so far this season, and recently claimed a 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers ahead of the international break.

Meanwhile, Blackpool only have two points on the board at the moment, with early defeats to Crawley Town and Stockport County costing Neil Critchley his job with the Fylde Coast outfit.

Despite the Seasiders’ struggles, Exeter boss Gary Caldwell is wary of the challenge ahead of his side following the appointment of Bruce on a two-year deal last week.

Speaking to the Devon club’s in-house media, he said: “I think his appointment will have a big impact for Blackpool. He has managed over 1,000 games and I have so much respect for him.
“We have to be prepared for a team that will really come out to us on the front foot and we have to stand up to that.

“Tactically, I don’t think he can change a whole lot as that takes time – I know that – but he can impact people with their motivation and the way they play in terms of attitude. We have to continue the positives from Bolton and the performances we gave.

“Steve will make a big impact for this Blackpool team. We know this game is much more difficult now than it perhaps would have been a couple of weeks ago.”
