Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever made her WNBA playoff debut on Sunday against the Connecticut Sun, capping one of the most amazing rookie seasons in WNBA history. Despite this, the Fever’s 93-69 loss against the Sun made it not the most picturesque contest.

The officiating and scorekeeping during the Fever’s defeat were also a bit shoddy at moments during the game. However, one particular instance stood out more than the others, prompting several supporters to demand that one of the Sun’s players be suspended.

This came after some supporters thought Dijonai Carrington purposefully jabbed Clark in the eye. In response to the event, Clark has later stated that “it wasn’t intentional by any means”. Still, after the game, Clark had a black eye, regardless of his intentions. Clark gave an update on her injuries prior to Wednesday night’s second game against the Sun.

Saying that her eye isn’t troubling her is a major breath of comfort to Fever supporters as she has to be playing her best basketball to try and continue in the playoffs. While her performance in her first postseason game wasn’t terrible, it wasn’t her usual one either, as she only managed 11 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Despite this, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell both appeared quite strong, scoring 17 and 21 points, respectively. There’s a strong likelihood that this series will see a third game if Clark can bring her “A-game”.
