Seahawks Provide New Information Regarding Lucas’s and Jnjured Nwosu’s Announced Return Date

The return of one of the Seattle Seahawks’ most important defensive players is drawing near.

How true is the Seahawks’ supremacy on defense? Ten striking statistics

At the Virginia Mason Athletic Center on Monday, head coach Mike Macdonald informed media that outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu will be practicing this week.

“We’re going to try him out sometime this week and see how it works,” Macdonald said. “In the coming days, he ought to participate in some team exercises here.”

After sustaining a damaged MCL in the Seahawks’ preseason finale against Cleveland, Nwosu has not yet played in a regular-season game. By choosing to retain the talented pass-rusher off injured reserve, the Seahawks were able to avoid having him miss a minimum of four games. If Nwosu had opened the season on the injured reserve, he wouldn’t be able to play again until the following week.

It will be Nwosu’s first on-field action of the regular season since he tore his ACL in Week 7 of the previous campaign, assuming he is well enough to play on Monday night in Detroit.

In his debut season in Seattle in 2022, the seventh-year veteran shared the team lead with 9 1/2 sacks and led the club with 12 tackles for loss and 26 quarterback hits. He also made three fumbles forced.

He has 214 tackles, 37 tackles for loss, 26 1/2 sacks, and eight forced fumbles in 85 career games.

Update on Abraham Lucas

Abraham Lucas, the starting right tackle, has an internal return schedule that the organization has discussed, but Macdonald refrained from disclosing any information in public.

“I’m not going to put a timeline on him right now, but we have kind of an internal timeline on him and we’re working through it,” Macdonald stated.

After getting hurt in the season opening, Lucas played in just five games due to a persistent knee issue that plagued him the whole previous campaign. After undergoing offseason knee surgery in January, the Everett native and former Washington State player did not take part in offseason practices or training camp. He last appeared in Week 17 of the previous season.

The Seahawks went to seasoned right tackle George Fant while Lucas was out. However, Fant’s knee injury from the season opener forced him to be placed on injured reserve on Saturday. At least the next three games will be missed by him. With Lucas and Fant out, Stone Forsythe, a third-string tackle, has started.
