SAD NEWS: The Indiana Fever’s Christie Sides coach has canceled his contract with the team today because she

Wednesday was a historic night for women’s basketball as the Connecticut Sun defeated the Indiana Fever in the WNBA playoffs’ opening round.

A lively audience, many of whom were there to support Caitlin Clark of the Fever, turned out as a result.

 

The fans at Mohegan Sun Arena roared throughout the suspenseful Game 2 between the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever.

 

Sun lovers were soaking in the atmosphere.

 

I adore the interactions among the audience. Like, it’s really enjoyable to be here, and I think the players feel the same way,” Mystic resident Alex Huber remarked.

 

Guard Caitlin Clark of the Fever was one player that attracted a lot of attention. The Caitlin Clark effect was evident, as the arena was packed with fans of all ages sporting her jersey.

 

Meghan Callahan, a Clark enthusiast from New Hampshire, stated, “Watching her play, watching Iowa play in college, I’ve really enjoyed watching college basketball and it’s kind of transferring into the WNBA.”

There were spectators from New York and all throughout New England for the game.

 

According to New York-based Clark enthusiast Peter Ruisi, “it’s great for basketball, family bonding, and it’s just great in general.”

 

While they are happy with the WNBA’s expansion, several Sun supporters expressed that it was a bittersweet occasion and called for more vociferous support from Connecticut.

 

“I want the fans of the Connecticut Sun to go as well, even though it’s fantastic to have women’s sports represented, with women’s basketball rising to prominence and all. Like, I’m aware of their presence,” Huber remarked.

Local supporters made it obvious who they wanted to win after the Sun won Game 1 of the best-of-three series.

 

“Go, Sun. Come with us back home! First place win! We are capable! I have faith in us. stated Huber.

 

After winning 87 to 81, the Connecticut Sun moves on to the semifinals.

 

On Sunday, September 29, the No. 3 seed Connecticut Sun will play the No. 2 seed Minnesota or the No. 6 seed Phoenix Mercury.
