Sad News: Amidst a recent controversial statement by the board, the San Diego Padres unexpectedly parted ways with a 28-year-old Hall of Fame superstar.

In an attempt to stay in their NL Division Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have decided to start reliever Ryan Brasier as their starting pitcher for Wednesday night’s Game 4 against the San Diego Padres.

On Tuesday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts declared that the team will play from the bullpen. About four hours before the game at Petco Park, Brasier was announced as the starting lineup. The right-hander recorded a win in the opening game, which finished 7–5, while playing in relief in Games 1 and 2 at Dodger Stadium.

During the regular season, he started four starts and finished with a 1-0 record and 3.54 ERA in 29 games.

Dylan Cease, a right-hander, is the Padres’ short-rest starter for this contest. On Saturday, Cease started in Game 1 but was only able to throw for 3 1/3 innings, giving up five runs without receiving a decision.

Shohei Ohtani made his much anticipated Dodgers postseason debut in the second inning when he gave up the game-winning three-run home run. Ohtani is 2 for 11 with six strikeouts since that home shot.

In a 3-0 victory over Washington on July 25, Cease recorded his first career no-hitter in his 14-11 regular season record with a 3.74 ERA. During spring training, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox for other players.

If the Dodgers are able to prolong the series, Mike Shildt, the manager of the Padres, stated that Yu Darvish will throw Game 5. Darvish would pitch Game 1 of the NL Championship Series on Sunday if the Padres prevail on Wednesday night.

Tuesday night’s 6-5 victory by the Padres, who now lead the best-of-five series 2-1, included an outstanding two-run home run by Fernando Tatis Jr., his fourth of the postseason.
