The Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers are both preparing for the 2025 season after both teams were eliminated from the wild-card round in the National League. Atlanta is looking for ways to improve its roster for next season.
Shortstop Willy Adames is one of the biggest names on the free agent market for the upcoming winter. There have been several teams who want to sign him this offseason.
The Atlanta Braves Enter the Willy Adames Sweepstakes
To no surprise, the Atlanta Braves have entered the Willy Adames sweepstakes. Atlanta has not won the World Series since 2021 and has not appeared in the NLCS since then either. The Braves had a ton of injuries this season and barely snuck into the playoffs before losing to the San Diego Padres.
Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller wrote on Wednesday:
“Atlanta (Braves) will very happily keep (Orlando) Arcia around as a versatile backup for two more years at a combined cost of $4M million, but they’re going to be at the top of the list of teams bidding for Willy Adames’ services.”
It would be interesting to see how high they would be willing to go in a bidding war. They were not interested in re-signing Dansby Swanson a couple of years ago, who left in free agency for the Chicago Cubs. Atlanta usually doesn’t overpay for its players.
Stats This Season
dames played in 161 games this season for the Milwaukee Brewers. He had a.251 batting average with 32 home runs and 112 RBIs, along with 21 stolen bases and four caught stealing attempts. His on-base percentage was .331.
This would be a huge gain for the Atlanta Braves lineup. They already have talented players like Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Matt Olson on the team. Willy Adames would be the latest gain for the Braves and the biggest loss for the Milwaukee Brewers.
